Delray’s current popularity is caused in large part by the fact that it has the feel of an organic city rather than a planned development or subdivision—and it’s completely walkable. Atlantic Avenue, which fell from a tony downtown to a dilapidated main drag, has been reinvented into a mile-plus-long stretch of palm-dotted sidewalks lined with stores, art galleries, and restaurants.
